Leipzig Trade Fair hosts the international broadcast centre
As announced by the UEFA and the German Football Association (DFB), the international broadcast centre of the UEFA EURO 2024 will be set up on the Leipzig Trade Fair (Leipziger Messe) grounds. “Leipzig offers outstanding facilities and the Messe is an attractive, modern venue” explained Martin Kallen, CEO of UEFA Events SA, the UEFA’s decision during a press conference on December 8, 2020. The Saxon city was chosen out of six host cities which all submitted applications with potential venues.

ICCA and BestCities Global Alliance Announce 2020 Incredible Impacts Winning Associations
The Incredible Impacts Programme, run collaboratively by ICCA and BestCities Global Alliance, has selected three winning associations as leading examples of excellence within the global meetings industry that each display these inspiring qualities. One of this years`s winners is the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME). In August 2018, ISME held its 17th Microbial Ecology symposium in Leipzig. Leipzig’s overnight stays peak at 3.6 million in 2019
2019 has been another record breaking year in a row for the tourism industry in Leipzig. The city registered 1.929.694 arrivals (+5.1 per cent) and 3.602.857 overnight stays (+6.7 per cent) last year.
The largest growth was generated among German travellers.
Most visited were the months June (295.000 overnights) and October (293.862 overnights).
