Zoo Leipzig: This is where events become memorable!

Pay Zoo Leipzig a visit at IMEX 2019 at Stand F 150.

The zoo of the future is becoming a reality in Leipzig. An innovative concept that unites ethologically sound animal keeping with exceptional animal encounters for visitors and a global commitment to species conservation in an incomparable manner has been underway since the year 2000. More than 1.6 million visitors per year come to discover this city jungle in the middle of Leipzig.

Since the new millennium Zoo Leipzig has been developing its master plan Zoo of the Future step-by-step and is turning into one of the most modern zoos in the world. The most ambitious project in its history was the Tropical Experience Theme World Gondwanaland that opened in 2011. The tropical dome that is one of its kind in the whole of Europe takes visitors into a lush rainforest with more than 25,000 tropical plants and 300 exotic animals. A subtropical 26 degrees and high humidity provide the perfect setting for experiencing a tropical jungle, which can be explored by boat, from the tree canopy or on meandering paths on the ground.

The most recent projects include the theme world of South America comprising the landscapes Pampa, Pantanal and Patagonia. White-nosed coatis, guanacos, capybaras, giant anteaters, maned wolves, Patagonian maras, lesser rheas and Chacoan peccaries have moved into an enclosure modelled on their natural habitat. Visitors will be able to discover the animal species of South America either from a wooden walkway that runs through the enclosure or from an animal transporter that has been converted into a viewing platform and thus immerse themselves in their habitat. However, there is more to Zoo Leipzig that is worth visiting: with its near-natural enclosures Zoo Leipzig offers a thrilling alternative for meetings, receptions, celebrations and workshops.

Altogether eight locations offer the appropriate ambience for all kinds of events. In the function rooms of the Tropical Experience World Gondwanaland, the Hacienda Las Casas, the African-style Kiwara Lodge and the Palmensaal restaurant, companies, associations and families can have an exotic and exciting time in the midst of a fascinating flora and fauna. Zoo guides take guests on discovery tours through the Zoo, and local or international artists provide excellent entertainment. The delicious catering comes from partners such as Marché Mövenpick International and Sodexo Services.

The Palmensaal restaurant, which is run by Marché Mövenpick International, next to the Congress Hall offers you and your guests moments to refresh and indulge in an exotic and stylish ambience. You can spend an unique evening with up to 120 people in the newly-designed, historic Concert Garden. The restaurant focuses on a light cuisine with seasonal and regional influences, providing the culinary extra for every zoo visit.

In the function rooms of the Tropical Experience World Gondwanaland, private and official events will become an exceptional experience: there is a spacious event area in Asian style as well as two event rooms that can be used flexibly. In addition, a boat tour on the jungle river or a walk through the tropics of Leipzig will contribute to creating a top-class event.
In the Hacienda Las Casas, event organisers have two banquet rooms available as well as a large and stylishly restored guestroom. On a warm summer day, the roofed patio with the adjacent beer garden is ideal for pleasant get-togethers with South American delicacies or for starting tours through the zoo.

The African-style Kiwara Lodge spoils you with freshly made African treats, exotic fruits and typical drinks. With view of the ample Kiwara Savannah, every evening is turned into an unforgettable moment.

For BBQ adventures with an African flair the Jungle village between Pongoland and the Okapi forest is your perfect venue. Seats are protected from the rain beneath African-style ribbed roofs where you will be able to enjoy a cosy get-together around a camp fire with up to 100 guests. Your gastronomic well-being will be catered for by a rustic barbecue buffet under straw-covered round huts.

The Asian pagoda at the elephant temple Ganesha Mandir is a popular venue for exclusive summer events in smaller groups. After the zoo has closed you can finish off a meeting nicely in a relaxed atmosphere or celebrate a birthday with the family.
The pagoda provides a fantastic view of the elephant bathing pool. Enjoy warm summer evenings and treat yourself to the Asian specialities from the buffet.
Large events with up to 1700 guests can be hosted exclusively in our open-air locations Concert Garden as well as the Event area at the Kiwara Kopje, where you can celebrate in historical ambience and in the midst of trees.

We are pleased to organise your exclusive evening for your guests in our unique locations.
