Since 2000, Zoo Leipzig has been undergoing a transformation into a Zoo of the Future. The innovative concept combines the keeping of animals in near-natural habitats with exceptional insights for visitors, a global commitment for the protection of species and a modern environmental management system on-site. Numerous ground-breaking projects have already been realised. Just last year alone, the Monkey Islands, the Kiwara Kopje, the Bears‘ Castle playground and the CONGRESS HALL adjacent to the Zoo were completed and opened. Also this year, Zoo Leipzig is further implementing next steps of the ambitious master plan and will open the Koala House in early summer. Construction on further projects including the mountain world Himalaya is already under way. However, there is more to Zoo Leipzig that is worth visiting: with its near-natural enclosures Zoo Leipzig offers a thrilling alternative for meetings, receptions, celebrations and workshops.

A wide variety of unique locations offer the appropriate ambience for all kinds of events. In the function rooms of the Tropical Experience World Gondwanaland, the Hacienda Las Casas, the African-style Kiwara Lodge and the historical congress facility KONGRESSHALLE am Zoo with its new Palmensaal restaurant, companies, associations and families can have an exotic and exciting time in the midst of a fascinating flora and fauna. Zoo guides take guests on discovery tours through the Zoo, and local or international artists provide excellent entertainment. The delicious catering comes from partners such as Marché Mövenpick International and Sodexo Services.

July 2015 saw the opening of the Palmensaal restaurant in the historical Concert Garden. It is run by Marché Mövenpick International. The restaurant focuses on a light cuisine with seasonal and regional influences, providing the culinary extra for every zoo visit.

With about 300 seats, split between the restaurant and a southern-facing patio with view into the Concert Garden, it offers culinary treats all day long, surrounded by beautiful nature. In the light-flooded restaurant, in the midst of palm trees, guests will be captivated by the flair of an oasis. Holiday feelings can arise and make the hectic everyday life fade away. The interior design and the decoration in Art Nouveau style – re-interpreted – remind of the Wilhelminian epoch in the 19th century. The KONGRESSHALLE am Zoo, a listed building, was complemented by a new extension designed by the renowned architects’ office HPP. It accommodates the guestroom of the restaurant. Precious materials such as marble and brass as well as coffeehouse furniture lend the interior a classy and sophisticated flair. In the function rooms of the Tropical Experience World Gondwanaland, private and official events will become an exceptional experience: there is a spacious event area in Asian style as well as two event rooms that can be used flexibly. In addition, a boat tour on the jungle river or a walk through the tropics of Leipzig will contribute to creating a top-class event.

In the Hacienda Las Casas, event organisers have two banquet rooms available as well as a large and stylishly restored guestroom. On a warm summer day, the roofed patio with the adjacent beer garden is ideal for pleasant get-togethers with South American delicacies or for starting tours through the zoo.

The African-style Kiwara Lodge spoils you with freshly made African treats, exotic fruits and typical drinks. With view of the ample Kiwara Savannah, every evening is turned into an unforgettable moment. We are pleased to organise your exclusive evening for your guests in our locations.
