On the occasion of Richard Wagner’s 200th birthday, a stunning music event is scheduled to
celebrate its world premiere in the Arena Leipzig event hall on 5th July 2013: The spectacular
cross-over show ‘Wagner Reloaded’ will open this year’s MDR Music Summer. The
choreography by Gregor Seyffert is going to focus on central periods of Richard Wagner’s life
and work, from his birth in Leipzig until his death in Venice.

With the MDR Symphony Orchestra and the MDR Radio Choir performing, the audience can
look forward to a brilliant spectacle with music, dance, circus arts, object theatre and audiovisual
media. Additionally, the Finnish cello rock band Apocalyptica contributes own Wagner
adaptations in typical heavy metal sound, thus building the bridge into modern times.

The live concert under the direction of MDR chief conductor Kristjan Järvi is artistically
complemented by the dancers of the Gregor Seyffert Compagnie, the Leipzig Opera Ballet
and the Berlin Youth Ballet as well as by the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School. The
Theater Titanick group from Leipzig, especially known for their sensational street theatre
performances, will cater for the set decoration and visualize the show event with large
objects and figures.

A second performance of ‘Wagner Reloaded’ is going to take place on 6th July – also in the
Arena Leipzig event hall.
